One Classroom One Projector
One Classroom One Projector
Teacher: Kaitlyn Polonis School: IM Circle Elementary Equipment Needed: one projector, Microsoft office, internet access
Specific Learning Objective: The main purpose of this activity is to gain spatial awareness, improve motor skills (throwing, catching, kicking, etc.) and to feel more comfortable with other classmates within an aerobically active setting Concomitant Objective: After this lesson, the students will also have been able to build life skills like fair-play and appropriate social behaviors while interacting with classmates. Their endurance and muscular strength will also be improved. Connection to Prior Learning: Students will be able to build endurance from their prior motor skills of using a ball. The students will also be able to build their collaboration skills with classmates while doing this activity in a small group. Time Procedures Followed Materials Set Induction: To get everyones anticipation up I will begin by asking, Who here has played catch before? __1___ Minutes and also Have you ever kicked a ball in a goal? Once they respond, I will then explain the activity with the use of the projector using right and wrong examples of throwing, catching, kicking etc. Modeling: I will first begin by explaining where the __3___ boundaries are by walking along them. Then I will show Minutes where they will line up and do the motion based on the example on the projector in a line. I will then demonstrate how to properly give our classmates space and what is considered to be giving not enough space. I will also do a practice run where I am the student. Transition: I will have the students in the boundaries __1___ while I am showing the examples via projector.

Warm Up: Our warm-up will be a test run of how the lesson will be. It will be a quick round of Simon Says which is similar to the imitations we will have to do on the projector in order to warm up the muscles and get the heart rate up. Presentation of New Material/Directions: I will then start with showing two simultaneous slides of showing a child throw a ball. One of them will be the right way to throw the ball; the other will be the wrong way to throw the ball. It will be the students job to imitate both of them as best as they can and then decide which picture is wrong as a group. They can raise their hand to express why which one is wrong in which I will record using the Microsoft office document. We will then do the same thing for catching and kicking.
___8__ Minutes
Guided Practice: After modeling, the students will be counted off in 1s and 2s to grab a partner and practice the new way to use the motor skills we have just went over. Activity: At this point we can have the students incorporate their skills into actual games that they all know and love. Baseball, soccer, basketball can all be played at this point upon request. Lesson Review/Checking for Understanding: I will ask the students what they felt was the best part about the lesson. What parts were easiest for them to throw, catch and kick, etc.
