2 Magazine Radial Analysis

This magazine cover follows a standard layout with the masthead at the top and a large central image. Anchoring text is placed around the main image to describe it without obstructing the viewer's view. The title "WhatCar?" is prominently displayed at the top in a large, readable font. The main image takes up a significant portion of the cover and shows a yellow Mini car. Accompanying bold text reads "New Mini" to indicate what the cover story is about. Unlike some magazines, the barcode is placed in the corner as it does not relate to the content. Subheading text for additional articles is also included without overlaying the main image.

This magazine would follow the same set-up as most other magazines (e.g.

Masthead at the top of the magazine and main image in the middle of the cover). The anchorage will be placed in certain places but not in the way of the main image. This is the house style of the image. This uses the same layout as the FHM magazine I analysed.
The title of the magazine WhatCar? is right at the top of the cover and is the biggest piece of text, this will help ensure the read to know what magazine this is. The use of a large font size will stand-out and the masthead will be much more readable than if it was a smaller text. Known as the masthead The main image is the main talking point of the magazine and is seen taking up a big part of the cover, the yellow mini is the main image of this cover.

The anchorage text is the text which is connected with the main image. New Mini put in a bold and large font would show the reader what the magazine is talking about and the main image would what the anchorage would be talking about.

2nd Magazine Radial Analysis

Unlike the FHM magazine, the barcode is shown in the corner. This has no relevance to the content in the magazine so it is put in the corner. Similar to FHM, the sub-headings about the other articles arent put in the way of the main image. Plus Family Cars is not in the way of the image but is still put onto the cover because it suggests that it is still an interesting article.
