The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is worth approximately 435 billion euros (604.78 dollars) to Frances economy annually. That is eight times more money than Bill Gates (the richest man in the world) has. It is one of the most popular monuments in the world. The Eiffel Tower is a well-known monument made for the 1889 World Fair in Paris. Twenty years after it was built it almost got torn down and scrapped. It now brings about 6.9 million people to it each year from around the globe. The Eiffel Tower has many geometric elements in its design such as triangles, squares and its overall shape as a pyramid that make it an attractive place to visit. The Eiffel Tower has a very visible pyramid design. It looks like a four-sided pyramid. The pyramid like structure doesnt need to have a big very big foundation because it is really heavy. That probably made the Eiffel Tower easier to build. The Eiffel Tower is twice the size as the Washington Monument because they wanted to beat the world record at that time. The Washington Monument is 555 feet tall and the Eiffel Tower is 1,063 feet tall. The Eiffel Tower also has lots of polygons on it. The polygons help the Eiffel Tower sway in the wind and help with the frame. It moves about 6cm to 7cm in the wind. The Eiffel Tower has over a hundred triangles on the latticework. There are also a lot of parallelograms on it too. When a human looks up from the bottom of the Eiffel Tower, they see squares. The squares on the Eiffel Tower make up part of the frame and the base. The Eiffel Tower has giant pillars on the ground. They have a large space inbetween them. Each side of the square shape is 125 meters long. The four pillars on are like points on a compass. The north and the west pillars are near the Seine. The east and south pillars are not. The Eiffel Tower has a lot of geometric elements. The pyramid shape, the amount of polygons, and the base are great examples of the geometric elements. They all are all unique parts of the Eiffel Tower. If the three parts werent on the Eiffel Tower, it would not look at all what it is today and certainly would not be the tourist attraction that it is.
