LESSON GUIDE PLANNING FORM

NAME OF ACTIVITY: Puppet Play Age Group: Pre-school

Originating Idea: New Friends

Materials Needed: Multiple Puppets, Puppet stage

Curriculum Content: Social and Emotional; Expressing feelings in words Beginning: During large group, teacher tells the children that they will have a new classmate tomorrow. Teacher asks for volunteers to show the new student around. Allow the children to act out their own scenarios with puppets.

Middle: Children use puppets to act out possible scenarios.

Extensions (Modifiers): Teacher models by showing the children how to use the puppets.

End: Discuss with children how to handle themselves when they encounter a new student.

Follow-up Ideas: Allow the students to play with the puppets when the new student arrives.
