Textbook:

Avancemos III by Estela Gahala, Patricia Hamilton, Audrey Heining- Boyton, Ricardo Otheguy, Barbara Rupert.

Workbook: Avancemos III Cuaderno de Prctica por niveles.

Course Objective: This course will help the students build their grammar and language skills acquired in the first and second year of Spanish, by adding new grammar structures, such as the future and conditional tenses, as well as commands. Through readings, videos and class discussion in the target language, the students will continue to explore cultural themes emphasizing on topics relating to modern society in the Spanish speaking world.

Assignments and tests:

You will have a test at the end of every chapter (100 points). A vocabulary quiz, every two weeks.

A bell activity Para Empezar, due every Friday (5 points per day). Classwork and notes, everyday. The notebook will be graded every half way report (100 points). Projects (50 & 100 points). Homework.

Grades: I will use the HC Standard grading scale system. 95 100 = A 90 94 = A87 89 = B+ 84 - 86 = B 80 - 83 = B77 79 = C+ 74 - 76 = C 70 - 73 = C67 69 = D+ 64 - 66 = D 60 - 63 = D50 Below = F

Classroom and Students Expectations: Be respectful of others and yourself. Take turns to talk and respect other peoples turn. Be in class on time. Be prepared for class. Participate actively in class. No late assignments or homework. Do not use cell phones in class.

Supply List: Notebook or loose paper in a binder, only for Spanish. Pencils, colors or makers.
