Edel453 Spring2014 Neosequeira Unit Plan Reflection

This unit plan focuses on teaching students about the world in spatial terms. The ideas and materials came from several educational websites about maps, directions, and geography. Writing the unit plan was easiest when focusing on identifying the grade level, strand, and standards. Developing activities for the standards and writing out detailed lesson procedures proved most challenging. For future unit plans, the author recommends starting with a lesson that already has a clear activity in mind. They also suggest beginning with the standards to provide structure and allowing several days to complete each unit plan.

2. What were the easiest and most challenging parts of writing this unit plan?
The easiest parts were figuring out a strand, a grade and standards. The
hardest parts were finding activities for the standards and writing out the
procedures.

3. What suggestions do you have for yourself for the next time you write unit
plans?
The next time I write unit plans start with the lesson that you already have an
activity in mind for and make sure to start with the standards first, it really
helps a lot. Also give yourself at least 2-3 days of time to complete a unit
plan.
