Mini Project Spring 2014

Each student is required to complete a term project that demonstrates their understanding of the control systems design process. They must state the control goal and variables, develop a mathematical model, test stability, and design a specified controller using MATLAB or SIMULINK. The designed controllers must also be implemented using analog electronics components. Each group will prepare a report summarizing the design and testing steps, including computer programs, circuit diagrams, and wiring details in an appendix. The report must be typewritten in LATEX format. Student performance will be evaluated based on the technical content and writing clarity in the final report, which is due on April 30, 2014.

EE 501 Control Systems Design-I

Term Projects
As part of the requirements for this course, every student is required to complete a term project. The
term project will demonstrate your understanding of the control systems design process. You are
required to state the control goal, variables to be controlled, develop a mathematical model preferably
nonlinear, linearise, test stability and design a specied controller. All simulations and design should
be carried in MATLAB or SIMULINK. Designed controllers shall be implemented using the analog
electronics components as learnt in Applied Electronics class.
Each group will prepare a report for the project summarising the steps involved in the design and
testing of the nal closed-loop system. The report should be type-written and prepared with L
A
T
E
X.
Include all computer programs, circuit diagrams and wiring details with the report in appendix.
Your performance in the project will be evaluated based on the technical content in the report and
clarity of writing. Final reports are due in class on April 30, 2014.
