Manthan-2014: The Management Fest March 28&29

Once again we invite you for MANTHAN 2014, an annual gala event of VSB. An event conceptualizing
creativity, Team Work and Learning with Fun. An opportunity to display business acumen by young
management scholars tomorrows promising corporate leader, capable entrepreneurs and business
tycoons.
Manthan 2014 will provide young minds to break the boundaries of what is believed as norms and show case
their talent beyond imagination while enjoying the event with full zeal and passion, a tool for edutainment.
This fest is a perfect blend of knowledge , dissemination , academic experience ,industrial exposure and
learning through fun ,and its your chance to experience a WINNING at its edge.
Who Can Participate?
Any student pursuing PG and UG
PG- MBA/PGDM/ M.Sc/M.Com/M.A
UG- BBA/BCA/B.COM / B.Tech /B.A/ B.Sc

1. RANGMANCH The Role Play
Its a role play activity in which the participants will enact the roles of characters and
collaboratively create stories. Participants will determine the actions of their roles based on the characterization,
and the actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, they may
improvise freely; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the games. Role should be specific,
measurable, agreed, realistic, time bound. The Role Play objectives must be clear & understood.

GUIDELINES:-
Each college will represent with one team comprising of 4- 8 members maximum.
Only one team can participate from each college.
A role play will be given to Act on a given situation on Managerial Activity.
15 minutes will be given to each team for thinking preparation and 10 minutes for presentation of the act.
The points will be given by the respectable judges on the following points:-
-Theme, Confidence and characterization, Teamwork and co-ordination, Expressions
and clarity & Questions and answers.

2. SHUBHARAMBH The Product Launch/Service Launch

GUIDELINES:-
Each college will represent with one team comprising of 2-4 participants.
A team should select a product/service which is creative and preferably not existing .that is totally new to
the market.
The presentation should be made through MS PowerPoint; the maximum no of slides can be 15.
The slides may include product/service description STP, Point of parity (POP), Point of Difference (POD),
USP, Launching plan media vehicles and communication strategy. Along with story board, teams may also
include various creative marketing aspects like tagline slogan, Jingle, Ad copies, Poster etc. for your
presentation.
Each presentation will be of 5-10 minutes followed by Question-Answer of 5 minutes.
Judges will select best plans based upon following criteria:- Product/service Newness, Creativity in
Launching presentation and integrated launching plan.


3. SAMADHAAN The Case Analysis

GUIDELINES:-
Case will be given on random basis at the time of Registration on First day of Event
A 15 minutes time will be given for presentation of case and 5 minutes for question and answer.
Number of member will be 2 in each team.


4. ADHI VAKTA The Devils Advocate
Oops! Your company caught doing something it shouldnt, or at least, thats what the media says. Its up
to you, the fearless PRO of your company, to step into the line of fire and dampen it with the real facts. Are
you up to the task? Defend your organization in a press interview. Answer the questions posed by our panel
of journalistic judges, but be careful not to antagonize them. You just might end up doing more harm than
good. You will be judged on how well you can tackle the questions, and how you manage to clear your
company of the charges alleged against it.

GUIDELINES:-
Time Limit 15 Mins. Per Team (7-8 mins Intro., 7-8 mins Q&A)
Topics will be given after registration
There will be on Individual participation.
Two topics will be given for selection and submission of synopsis on any one.
Parameters for judgment- communication skills, time management, attire, situation handling

5. SAMANVAYANTeam building games:
Teambuilding activities are loads of fun, but they can also be tools for strengthening your
group. They can be good icebreakers for the beginning of a meeting or a way to build stronger ties with
members you already know. Some involve a lot of teamwork and can result in tighter friendships among the
people with whom you work. There are many gradations of teambuilding activities. Weve broken them down
into Four rough categories.

GUIDELINES:-
1. Each college will represent with one team.
2. Rules will be told on the spot.
3. There will be 4 members in each team.
4. there will be different round of activities based on management Tasks and to be performed in a
given time.

6. NI RANTARTASupply Chain Game:
The beer distribution game (also known as the beer game) is an experiential learning business simulation
game created by a group of professors at MIT Sloan School of Management in early 1960s to demonstrate
a number of key principles of supply chain management. The game is played by teams of at least four
players, often in heated competition, and takes from one to one and a half hours to complete. A debriefing
session of roughly equivalent length typically follows to review the results of each team and discuss the
lessons involved.

GUIDELINES:-
Four participants will be there in a team
The participants will adhere to one important rule of the game i.e. there would be no communication (verbal
non- verbal or even meta- verbal) among them
Rest of the rules of the game will be known to the players at the time of game.


7. ABHI MANCHAN Ad-Mad Show:
The concept of the show was unique in the sense that it gave a platform to young talented people to
showcase their abilities to perform yet be creative. This is based on designing a new Ad on for a given
Product.

GUIDELINES:-
In this one team from each college can participate with maximum members of 4-6.
Topic will be provided on the spot for presentation/enactment.
For preparation they will get 10 min. and for presentation2-3 min.
The motive is to highlight the team work, Presentation skills in group and strategy for the task.


8. MUKHANKAN Face Painting: Face painting is applying a design to the face, usually Participant's
faces, using brushes and paints suitable for use on the skin. It is common at festivals and parties for
children. The designs may be very simple such as a butterfly shape on the cheek in one or two colors or
extremely complex such as a full leopard mask with detailed spots and many shades of color.

GUIDELINES:-
Each college can participate with many teams and each team will have two members.
Face painting theme corporate logos.
Participants will bring their own colors and brush and additional materials.

9. LOGO MANI A Logo designing: Logo design is one of many services that a good graphic designer can
provide to a professional company that is looking to make an impression on the marketplace. With the
absence of a memorable, eye catching and meaningful logo design, a business - no matter how small or
large - will fight an uphill battle when it comes to name and brand recognition. Participants will be given a
Product or Service to Design a Logo that can represent it for effective marketing. Each team has to create a
logo to represent his/her Co. & its Product.

GUIDELINES:-
No. of payers in a team should be 2.
Each team has to create a logo. Students can use a symbol, a letter, any shapes, color to design the logo.
However they also need to explain his/her logo on logical parameters and show how it represents his/her Co.
& its Products.
Participants will bring their own colors and brush and additional materials.


10. THE STRATEGIST Strategy making: Every Organisation requires strategies to have competitive
advantages. It is necessary to understand your competitors Strategy and prepare the next move to be
made.

GUIDELINES:-
No. of players in a team should be 3-4.
Each team has to perform under various conditions prevailing in the company given to them. They have to
devise a strategy for the same and present the best possible solution by formulating a unique strategy.
Total presentation time will be 20 minutes.
The presentation should be made through MS PowerPoint; the maximum no of slides can be 15.
Participants are required to bring their own Laptops for Preparing Presentation.



11. RANG DE Rangoli

GUIDELINES:-
The team should comprise of maximum 2 participants.
Participants will create a Rangoli keeping in mind a theme of their choice.
The colours of Rangoli, as well as other materials, if required, according to their selected themes must be
brought by the participants.
Rangoli must be handmade and any kind of tools will not be allowed.
The maximum time duration will be 30 minutes and the Rangoli area per team will be 33 ft.
The decision of judges will be final and binding to all contestants.

12. MUKHY KARYAPALAK Best CEO (Restricted to Vidya Knowledge Park Students Only)
GUIDELINES:-
Participants must strictly follow a formal dress code.
Participants must bring two copies of their updated curriculum vitae according to their specialization.
The participating candidate must not participate in any other event organized on either of the days and must
be present at the specified event hall at the stipulated time announced for every round.**
While registering for the event, kindly mention your specialization and the area of interest.
On the spot registration is allowed.
Nature and No. of rounds will be announced on the spot.
** The number of rounds depends upon the participants performance, so the participants are requested to
follow up the announcements carefully after every round to move to the next. The names not specified in the
announcement are not eligible to participate in the next round. Claims made against these will be not be
entertained.

13. BEST I NVESTOR- THE FI NANCE GAME

Minimum Resources and Too Many Alternatives. Financial Planning is all about making an Executive
decision. Best Investor is a Finance Game too, in which the participating team has to come up with the best
Investment plan within the given constraints. The rules are as under:
Guidelines:
1. There can be 2 members in a Team.
2. Each team shall be given financial data regarding few companies comprising, set of resources and
constraints under similar market situations.
3. Each team will be allowed 20 Minutes of time to make their financial analysis and come up with a
profitable investment plan.
4. Calculators are allowed but no internet access allowed during this game.
5. The decisions of the Judges shall be final.

14. Business Quiz:
It is expected that every Corporate Manage, Entrepreneur must be aware of his/her environment, happening
around the Globe. Business quiz is aimed at your IQ and awareness of Corporate, Political, Economic and
International Environment.

Guidelines:
1. There will be 2-3 members in a Team
2. There will be several rounds and winners will be determined on the basis of all the round.
3. On line Registration for the team is required.
4. Decision of the Judges will be the final.


15. Solo Dance:

Guidelines:
1. There can more than one Participation from a single Institute or College
2. There should not be any kind of indecencies in the lyrics/Songs
3. Duration of the Performance should not exceed 5 minutes
4. There should also be decency in the costume of the participants.

16. Group Dance:

Guidelines:
1. There can more than one Participation from a single Institute or College
2. Number of Participants in each Team can be 6-8.
3. There should not be any kind of indecencies in the lyrics/Songs
4. Duration of the Performance should not exceed 5 minutes
5. There should also be decency in the costume of the participants.


17. Solo Singing:

Guidelines:
1. There can more than one Participation from a single Institute or College
2. There should not be any kind of indecencies in the lyrics
3. Reading from paper is not allowed.
4. Duration of the Performance should not exceed 5 minutes


Theater: Theme Based Play:
Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of fine art that uses live performers to present the experience of a
real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place. The performers may communicate this
experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music, and dance. Within every
Individual, there is an Actor and can perform in an unique manner. Participating Team must perform a Play
based on a Social Issue and Message to the Audience.

1. Number of participants in each Team 6-8 members
2. The Play must be based on a Social Issue and message to the Audience, Society.
3. Duration of the play is 10-12 minutes.
4. Costumes, Instruments, Props etc. required in the play should be brought by the participants.
5. Decisions of the Judges will be the final for all the participants.

Note:
I ndividual Students can also participate in the Events. Registration will also be done on the day of the Event
at 9:00 am
