Dear Sir or Madam:
I write this letter excitedly on Christina Granados !ehal", an excellent st#dent who exhi!its a
desire to learn, compassion "or her peers, and a sense o" responsi!ility that exceeds her years$
I had the pleas#re o" teachin% Christina in Gon&alo Gar&a Independence 'i%h Schools m#lti(
disciplinary )omens St#dies co#rse, which incorporates *nited States 'istory, +n%lish
,an%#a%e Arts, and -heater Arts d#rin% the Sprin% Semester o" 201.$ In this class, Christina
a%ain and a%ain pro/ed hersel" a mat#re yo#n% woman who is analytical, poetic, and willin% to
wor0 "or what she wants$ -hro#%ho#t the co#rse I o!ser/ed her wor0 indi/id#ally and in %ro#ps,
write analytical and pers#asi/e essays, personal narrati/es, poetry, per"ormances and
monolo%#es, as well as en%a%e in research and p#!lic spea0in%$ $ -he co#rse c#lminated in a
st#dent written, directed, and per"ormed ensem!le piece at the Da#%herty Arts -heater in which
the st#dents explored theater as a "orm o" acti/ism$ Christina was a nat#ral leader d#rin% this
experience, who not only wrote, directed, and per"ormed 0ey scenes in the per"ormance, !#t
co#ld also !e depended on to arri/e p#nct#ally, prepared, and to %i/e 100 percent "oc#s and
ener%y thro#%ho#t the lon% rehearsals, as well as help her peers when they str#%%led with sta%e(
"ri%ht, while maintainin% a part(time 1o! at a resta#rant in the e/enin%s$ )ith her positi/e attit#de
and desire to s#cceed, she 2#ic0ly !ecame a role model "or the other st#dents$ She was an
in/al#a!le and relia!le team(mem!er$ 3n the day o" the "inal per"ormance, one o" the st#dents
with a 0ey role in the play !ecame ill$ Christina and the other st#dents p#lled to%ether and
2#ic0ly "orm#lated a plan to "ill(in the necessary parts, impro/isin% when necessary$ As a res#lt
o" her hard wor0, the "inal per"ormance was a remar0a!le s#ccess$
)hen the )omens St#dies co#rse concl#ded, I was deli%hted to see that Christina enrolled in
my Creati/e )ritin% class$ I thoro#%hly en1oyed wor0in% with her in this co#rse as she cra"ted
her stories and poetry, and o!ser/ed an increasin% sophistication in her writin%$
In addition to her academic s0ills, Christina exhi!its pro"essionalism more a0in to a colle%e
st#dent than an adolescent in hi%h school$ She is poised, polite, determined and open(minded$
She arri/es "or class ready to learn and always approaches her wor0 with a sense o" pra%matism
and %ood h#mor$
Despite the ine/ita!le hicc#ps that adolescence presents, Christina always stayed #p(to(date with
assi%nments, and per"ormed as a responsi!le classmate and st#dent$ She demonstrates mat#re
comm#nication s0ills and the a!ility to !alance se/eral part(time 1o!s while "oc#sin% on her
academics$ -hro#%h all o" this, she has shown that she is ready "or the world !eyond the
classroom$
