Mock Trial
Statement of the Crime: Beowulf is charged with one count of trespassing into Grendels mother
house with his crew which occurred on March 21, 510AD, two charges of premeditated murder
which occurred on March 20 and the 21, desecrating the corpse of Grendel on March 21, and
multiple counts of public intoxication on multiple occurrences.
Prosecutors statement: The defendant, Beowulf has committed multiple crimes and should be
found guilty. He committed multiple murders which lead to the deaths of Grendel and his
mother. This man chased and set out to kill Grendel with the use of his brute strength. Beowulf
in a rampage and torn Grendels whole arm off causing him to bleed out. No human in their right
mind would ever do such a thing to another living creature. All Grendel wanted was for the town
to be quiet and to stop disturbing the peace. But Beowulf's murderous rampage doesn't end there.
Shortly after he killed Grendel he then set forth to kill Grendel's mother which leads to the next
charge. For the second charge of trespassing, Beowulf planned with King Hrothgar and his crew
to sneak over and break into the residence of Grendels mother with a plan to kill her. No person
has any right to set foot on someone elses own property, especially with the premeditated and
evil intent to cause harm. Beowulf stomped into the living quarters of this poor women, and
provoked a fight which turned into a mean brawl leaving Grendel's mother dead. An aggressive
man such as he should be locked away, as he is a threat to society and the humans inhabiting it.
As if he had not already done enough, this combatant, this savage, then breaks into the tomb of
his old ex-enemy for which he torn his arm off. Beowulf then proceeded to the deathly corpse
and cut its head and carried it away back to King Hrothgar to show how they should all be proud
of his disturbing actions. If these charges I present before you aren't enough to convince you lock
up this beast, he is also guilty of committing a crime daily and it is the crime of public
intoxication. This drunken murderer drinks every second of the day, leaving him polluting
society and ruining the nice reputation of our nation. How could anyone be able to think straight
while he has been consuming alcohol? Some may even say it was because he was drunk that he
has committed so many crimes. To conclude, this drunken abomination should be incarcerated
for more than two life times.
Statement of Defense:
I plan on defending my client Beowulf from such ridiculous charges as he has done did
nothing anyone else would not have done. The prosecution conveniently forgot to mention the
evil intention of both Grendel and his mother. Therefore, let me elaborate and enlighten you. I
will agree that Grendel was upset because he is not much of a party animal, but instead of having
the intention to properly address Beowulf or the King in charge, Grendel himself went on a
rampage and started to devour innocent villagers. Beowulf, being a good Samaritan, could not
just let these people die, so he had to step in, which in my opinion is not crime at all. He should
be rewarded for his bravery and heroism. Now preceding to the charge of the murder of
Grendel's mother; all the defendant was doing was putting a stop to her evil revenge. She was
infuriated because justice was brought upon her son. She, much like her son, was killing the
villagers and soldiers, which is considered mass murder and in no way was she justified in doing
so. Beowulf was also ordered by the King himself to slay this demon, which makes it legally
acceptable. How could anyone deny orders from a high authority such as the King? Beowulfs
trespassing charge must also be dismissed because in order to fulfill the Kings command, he had
to break into her residence in order to slay her. As far as the charge for desecrating the corpse of
Grendel, he was well justified because he was a demon and Beowulf wanted to make sure he
could not do anymore harm, in order to relieve the kings anxiety, he took the head. As to the
intoxication in public charge, it must also be dismissed because there is no proof that he was
making a mockery of himself in public. There was not a single time within the time frame
specified that he was incoherent. To conclude, my client is innocent of all charges and should not
be put away for being the courageous person as he was.

Witnesses statement:
1.) Hi Im George the drunk um this is like the second third time I have been to the court today.
Ok so I guess some dude is pissed at Beowulf and I call foul. Like it isnt his fault Grendel
used him as a wrecking ball. So like it wasnt beowulfs fault he broke everything. And hey
since when do Vikings not pillage and break in. Its in the name VIKpillageandbreakinING.
See in the name. so yeah he didnt do it to what you said he did.

2.) Valkyrie: Hi my name is Valkyrie and I was present when Beowulf desecrated corpse of a
Grendel. I saw it with my own two eyes, I followed Beowulf to swap where Grendel's
mother lives and watched as he killed not only her but cut the head of the deceased Grendel's
corpse. I saw it with my own two eyes.

3.) Jakebargos: I couldnt believe my eyes when the ruthless creature we call Beowulf killed the
life of the gentle soul that is Grendel. It was enough that Beowulf killed Grendel but then he
went one step further and added inult to injury by keeping Grendels head as a trophy! What
an impulsive action

4.) Nightshade the Bright: On the day that Beowulf went down to kill Grendels mother I was
sitting on an undersea cave I noticed a figure sneak into Grendels mother cave so I decided
to get a closer look and swam near the cave and I saw Beowulf cutting Grendels mothers
head off.

5.) Annoying Mead Maid: My dear friends, I have shocking news. Beowulf is not the one who
killed Grendels mom it was Gretchen! She have been blaming everyone for her doings! She
is the real killer and must be put behind bars!
Concluding prosecuting statement: Base of the evidence your honor, there is no reasonable doubt that
my Beowulf should be put behind bars or probably executed. I can guarantee that Beowulf upon leaving
this court house the he will cause mischief unless properly punished for his crimes.
Concluding Defense Statement: Your honor, even the witnesses cant their facts straight. This must be
some kind of conspiracy as my client is innocent and their isnt any evidence to incriminate him. Beowulf
was only doing what he was told from his King. Please take the time and actually review what could be
considered fact or fiction.

Verdict: As the judge and reviewing the witnesses statements, I find Beowulf guilty of first degree
murder of Grendels mother but not for Grendel, guilty of trespassing, and guilty of public intoxication.
The sentence is 250yrs federal prison.
