About Macros

A macro is a set of tasks combined together so that you can run or replay the entire task together with a single command. To create a macro in Excel, you first open the workbook you wish to use the macro in and click Tools > Macros to open the Record New Macro dialog box. This dialog box allows you to name the macro, assign a shortcut key, select where to store the macro, and add a description. Once configured, clicking Start will begin recording all actions in the workbook until Stop is clicked, allowing the user's manual process to be automated through the recorded macro.
