Dear Principal,

Re: BC Summer Reading Club 2014 at the Dawson Creek Public Library

Kids across the province will be laughing their way through the summer when they join this
years BC Summer Reading Club: Funny Business! Please invite your students to join in the
summer reading fun at the Dawson Creek Public Library.

Summer Reading Club is FREE and registration starts on Tuesday, July 2, 2014. Students
receive a special kit to keep track of their reading and are invited to special event days and
activities all summer long. They can sign up any time during club hours through July and
August. The club will be open Monday through Friday during library hours.

Some special events we have planned with a funny theme include storytime on the lawn, a
mid-summer street festival and all kinds of craft and activity days (including Rainbow Loom
and Lego days). We end the summer on August 22 with a hugely popular free pizza lunch
for those who participate. All summer long kids can also enter their name to win incentive
prizes the more they read the better chance to win a great prize.

As you know, regular reading over the summer helps kids maintain or improve reading
skills, and voluntary reading is key to making reading habitual. In the Summer Reading
Club, kids choose what material they read through the summer months. They may also
participate in fun library programs, contests and activities.
