Upgrading from ZPanel 4.x.x Unfortunatelyas this version of ZPanel differs so much from previous version of ZPanel there is no easy way to upgrade from a previousversion of ZPanel, We advise that you make plans to migrate from an old ZPanel version to ZPanel 5. Installing ZPanel 5 Downloading ZPanel 5 ZPanel can be downloaded free of charge from the downloads section of the ZPanel website here:- 3 http://www.zpanel.co.uk/ We advise that you download the Latest Stable Release Running the installer Once you have downloaded ZPanel 5, simply double click the installer (the file that you downloaded) to begin the installation. As shown here:- Please ensure that before you run the installer that you dont already have a Web Server (Such as Microsoft IIS or Apache HTTPd), MySQL database server, FTP server or Mail Server already running on your server if you have you must un-install them and reboot your Server before continuing on with the installation as this could cause undesired errors and problems with your Operating System at a later date. Accepting the license agreement Obviously when this screen is displayed you are asked to read the license agreement and fully understand it before you decide to accept the license terms, if you do not accept the license terms at this time you must stop installing ZPanel! If you agree to the terms then lets continue by clicking on Next... Some information The below screen simply explains some important information that you should take note of, then when ready lets continue by click the Next button again.... 4 Ready to install... Now we start the installation process by clicking the below button labelled Install The installation will now start to copy all the required files... 5 Configuring ZPanel After all files have been copied across, the ZPanel installer (ZPI) now asks you a few questions the answers are used to create the default zadmin account... 6 Ensure that you fill out all questions correctly... After you have finished you should see something like the following:- Ensure that at this time you make a note of the following details from the above screenshot:- 1. The MySQL Root Account Password(eg. 3f6d71ad) 2. The default username for ZPanel (eg. Zadmin) 3. The default password for ZPanel (eg. 852699) As you will need this information later, The MySQL Root and zadmin account passwords are randomly generated during installation! So dont think theyll be the same as the ones shown above in this screenshot! Allowing External Access to Apache HTTP Server and other third-party applications After you have made a noteof the default passwords and you have press Enter to continue, a series of questions will appear, for each one youll need to allow access... 7 Also FileZilla Server then asks you some questions, regarding the FileZilla Service just click yes to them all. ZPanel configures the environment for the first time Once you have accepting all prompts regarding the service installation etc. This window will appear... 8 Basically, The ZPanel daemon is running for the first time, this will check that all folders exist and create some new default folders that are required for certain things later such as Webalizer reports etc. You SHOULD NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW, It will close automatically when itscomplete! If you do close it manually then you run the risk of having a corrupt ZPanel installation. Completingthe installation Congratulations, you should now see this window... This concludes the installation of ZPanel, well-done Accessing your ZPanel for the first time Ok so itsreally simple, all we need to do is open a web-browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer and browse to the control panel URL (as specified in the Configure ZPanel section above) my example shows control.example.com so now, letsload it.... 9 So now youd enter the default administration account which is zadmin followed by your password as specified earlier, when ready click Login... And if all goes to plan you should now see something like this... 10 Installing hMailServer Running the hMailServer installer We have packaged the hMailServer installer in with the ZPanel installation, so onceyou have ZPanel installed you can run the installer from the following location:- C:\ZPanel\thirdparty\hMailServer-5.3.1-B1748.exe We recommend using the above installer rather than downloading a newer release from the hMailServer website as we cannot be sure that newer versions of hMailServer are compatible at this present time. Important Database settings By default ZPanel uses the database name zpanel_hmail to interface with hMailServer, we therefore recommend that you use this database name when setting up hMailServer Failure to do so will resort in errors in ZPanel when attempting to create Domains, Sub domains and any Mail related features. You must also make sure that when you are configuring hMailServer that you select MySQL as the database type, ZPanel will not work with any other database types. Youregood to go... Now hopefully you have setup hMailServer properly so now you are fully functional, you should now be able to add domains, mailboxes, forwarders and distribution lists in ZPanel Imstuck, I need help!
