Plants And Its Parts After the roots take up enough nutrients, or food, a stem begins to grow. The stem connects the different parts of the plant and sprouts leaves. With enough sunlight and water, a flower pops out of the stem. What Do Plants Need to Grow? Water Sunlight Soil Nutrients Different kind of Seeds Plant seeds come in all sorts of sizes: large like a basketball or small like a marble. An apples seeds are tiny, but the avocados seed is huge. Different fruits, like strawberries, carry their seeds on the outside. Movement of Seeds Seeds need to be scattered- spread around the ground. Wind is one way seeds travel. ex. A dandelions seeds are picked up and blown away.
Movement of Seeds Another way for seeds to scatter is water. ex. A coconut A coconut floats! It is hollow and only has coconut juice and a little meat. Coconuts move across the ocean to different islands and grow there. Movement of Seeds Seeds can also be scattered by animals. They attach their seed to the animal and get a free ride. Hummingbirds and bees pollinate by taking the pollen from flowers and spreading it around the ground.
Living things On Earth there is more than a million animals, and they all have habitats, or homes, which they live in. Each Habitat has something unique or special about them. Many animals share certain habitats and this is called Biodiversity, when different animals live in the same place.
