Beams are widely used in construction for bridges, buildings, and other structures. Cantilever bridges use pairs of cantilever beams to support a central section, while cantilevers project from structures without internal supports. Torsion beam suspensions in vehicles use a long metal bar attached at one end to the chassis and terminating at the other end in a lever connected to the suspension to resist vertical motion. Beams are also used for roof support, in gymnastics equipment, early airplane wings, beam engines, bicycle frames, and various other applications like cranes, chairs, and shelves where strength and support are needed.

APPLICATIONS OF BEAMS
1.In Bridges,towers and buildings:
Cantilevers are widely found in construction, notably in cantilever bridges and balconies .In cantilever bridges the cantilevers are usually built as pairs, with each cantilever used to support one end of a central section.

2. Torsion beam suspension: Torsion beam suspension, is a general term for any vehicle that uses a torsion bar as its main weight bearing spring. One end of a long metal bar is attached firmly to the vehicle chassis; the opposite end terminates in a lever, the torsion key, mounted perpendicular to the bar, that is attached to a suspension arm, a spindle, or the axle. Vertical motion of the wheel causes the bar to twist around its axis and is resisted by the bar's torsion resistance.
3. I Beams are used in the roofs to support the roofs. 4. Beams are used in gymnastics and also in weight lifting. 5. Beams were used in the wings of early airplanes to give wings support and Strength.
6. Beams are used in Beam engines. A beam engine is a type of steam engine where a pivoted overhead beam is used to apply the force from a vertical piston to a vertical connecting rod.
7. Beams are used in cycle frames to give them support. 8. Wing of fan is an example of Cantilever example. 9. The arm of crane is an example of cantilever example. 10. Car lifting machine is also an example of Beam. 11. Cantilever chair is an example of beam. 12.Wall shelf is an example of fixed beam. 13.Soap holder is an example of cantilever. 14.Tube light is an example of fixed beam. 15.AC out-door stand is an example of beam. 16.Slab Bench is an example of simply supported beam. 17.Railway tracks are example of beam. 18.Hanging beams are used to reduce the span of ceiling Joists. 19.Fixed beam barcode scanners are normally used now a day.
