Title#1: Energy Auditing & Management
Organization: Andhra Pradesh Industrial & Technical Consultancy (APITCO)
Duration: 3 Months
Description: The project involves study and observation of various electrical and mechanical
equipments located in the industry. A preliminary audit is done prior to detail auditing. The
fieldwork involves operating the machinery for a stipulated time and noting down its observations.
Then a detailed study of each equipment is done, various energy saving measures are
recommended, and finally the machine is installed.

Responsibilities: Involved in design and installation.


Title#2: Protection of Power Station Auxiliary System (Esbjerg power plant)
Organization: Dong Energy power A/S
Duration: 9 Months
Description: The protection philosophy applied to power stations auxiliary supply system
generally includes requirements for safe tripping (both primary and back-up protection) of faults
within all protection zones. However, some compromises in relation to plant safety and operational
safety have to be taken. Special care has to be taken in relation to the stability of the plant, e.g.
motor reacceleration after voltage dips. Faults on secondary side of distribution transformers also
provide a problem for the protection engineer.
The protection strategy in Danish power stations is based on the differential protection schemes for
main components such as main auxiliary transformer and widespread use of over current protection
schemes for 10kV and lower voltages.
The objective of the project is to make a review of the generally used protection philosophy and
specifically review the protection scheme of power stations using the DIG silent power factory.
Review fault current studies and the present protection scheme for power station, examine/verify
the proper protection of all parts of the plants, compare to present best practice and suggest
improvements.

Responsibilities: Involved in the analysis of the protection system.
