Finance:
Sources of
finance
Equipment
Transport
Talent
Crew
Materials
Facility hire
Importance
The importance of financing is crucial for any production, there will be a set
budget, these depend on the type of production if it is small or large, and the
finances need to be kept under control. With the budget the producer or
whoever it may be can buy or hire equipment for film production. They will
also need to hire film crew which is expensive as obviously they need to be
paid, in some circumstances the producer may need to acquire costumes.
There are many types of people needed for any production so you cannot
forget the editing, technicians etc.
The crew members may also have a certain area of skill, which could be very
helpful to your productions; you need to be able to select them out and chose
them for a separate scene which Is in their skill area.

Time: Deadlines
Availability of equipment Availability
of personnel (size of team; roles)
Importance
Deadlines are an important part of everyday life. They keep us focused on
when tasks need to be completed, when we need to make payments or meet
with people for various reasons. If we dont meet these deadlines then
problems are not only for us, but others involved with those deadlines. It could
be a piece of work as part of a project, delay in meeting the deadline results in
a delay in the next step of the process. This counts towards being not reliable,
which isnt good as an employee. With every person and business finding the
smallest advantage. Any outsourced work will need to be managed as
effectively as possible and deadlines are a good way to do that as you will be
able to track what is happening, where and when and that will allow you to
know what is needed before further action or steps in a project are needed.
Availability of equipment/ personal is important because you need to be very
accurate with what equipment you have bought or rented for the production,
you need to also keep within a budget you have been given. Timing and
Deadlines are essential to any good production, without them your production
would be unorganized and messy, so you and everyone else involved in the
production will need to be kept up to date with all timings and deadlines.
Its hard managing big groups of people and equipment therefore you should
make schedules that every member of the production should own, so they
know what they are doing and at what time. Also the crew will need to be
dived into their specialties and roles, like sound, filming, operators etc.
Sourcing
This is a checklist for a production above.
Facilities: Production equipment
Post-production equipment
facility houses
Importance
The importance of Production Equipment and Post-Production is that
without the production equipment needed there will be no production,
the company ruining the production will usually give you a certain
budget which you will have to work under, kit can be hired or bought,
usually a big company will own their own equipment smaller companies
will have to hire equipment, this is an expensive process, post-
production equipment is vital, you need to make sure when you have
finished the filming it is all saved and that you have computer and sound
rooms to edit your production together.

www.dvcamerahire.co.uk from here you can hire all media based

Materials: Original materials,
Archive and library materials
Photo-library materials
Sound library materials,
Internet
Audio
Script
Interviews
Costumes
Importance
Archive and library materials are important as this is where you can
research anything you may have questions about for your production, it
may also give you more fulfilling ideas, this applies for photo and sound
libraries too, here you can research and find everything you need, the
internet is key without this you could not find much, you wouldnt know
where to hire equipment, find a crew etc. Scripts need to be done well
before the production and leant by the actors and they also need to be
brought on set, no production can look good if the actors are not
dressed the part some costumes or clothes have to be prepared early
and also be on set on time.

Locations: Recces
Limitations and risks:
Distance, access, cost, weather
Importance
Facilities and Location are extremely important when it comes to film
shoots, without them most media would be boring, so to have these
done is essential, its a tedious process getting all of the location reeces
done and hiring locations and places but its worth it. Also most parts of
this are also legal documents that have to be obeyed and completed, If
you dont meet the standards I could cause and great deal of trouble.
Also there will be allot of paper work based on risk assesments for each
location you are filming at these are time consuming but have to be
done as its the law and could result in trouble other wise .

forms
Codes of
practice and
regulation:
Location permissions
Clearances
Copyright
Health and safety
Insurance
Importance
Location Permissions need to be asked for well before the production,
you need to ask the landowners permission or whoever owns the plot
you wish to film on and also make sure its completed on a signed form,
it is illegal to do so otherwise, everything needs to be cleared and make
sure the whole production is legal etc. The copyright laws still stand the
same as which most of the people involved should know. Health and
Safety is related to risk assessments theses all need to be taken into
account and any hazard needs to be removed or warned about, the
insurance covers the whole production which is expensive but needs to
be done legal so that you are covered

The below only requires you to discuss the importance
Regulatory
bodies:
Ofcom
Press Complaints Commission
(PCC) Advertising Standards
Authority (ASA)
Pan European Game Information
(PEGI)
Entertainment Software Rating
Board (ESRB)
British Board of Film
Classification (BBFC)
Importance
Ofcom is the communications regulator. We regulate the TV and radio
sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves
over which wireless devices operate. The importance of Ofcom is they
make sure that people in the UK get the best from their communications
services and are protected from scams and sharp practices, while
ensuring that competition can thrive. The importance of Ofcom is that
you can make a compliant about a TV or Radio show and ofcom can
regulate these.
The Press Complaints Commission is currently in a phase of transition;
and it will soon be replaced by a new structure of independent self-
regulation for the newspaper and magazine industries. Following the
recommendations Sir Brian Leveson made in his Report published in
November 2012, the magazine and newspaper industries have been
creating a new, self-regulatory body - the Independent Press Standards
Organisation (IPSO), the PPC is important as you can make complaint
about anything you see in a magazine or newspaper that you are not
satisfied about.
I Have said a little bit about what the Regulatory bodies do but in the
end they basically all result the same, these governing bodies are all
here for a use and can be very beneficial to use, they examine
complaints and file for them and also classify up and coming films
Trade unions:
Producers Alliance for Cinema
and Television (PACT),
National Union of Journalists
(NUJ)
Broadcasting Entertainment
Cinematograph and Theatre
Union (BECTU)
Importance
Pact is the trade association representing the commercial interests of UK
independent television, film, digital, childrens and animation media
companies.
These Trade unions work together to achieve common goals in this
Media sector, the most common purpose of these associations is
maintaining or improving the conditions of their employment. These are
especially helpful to media
Trade
associations:
Entertainment and Leisure
Software Publishers Association
(ELSPA)
British Interactive Media
Association (BIMA)
Importance
ELSPA were responsible for providing sales charts for computer and
video games sold in the United Kingdom, and promoting anti-piracy
initiatives, very much like the music industry's organization, the BPI. It
also co-manages the London Games Festival and the Edinburgh
Interactive Festival.
While ELSPA represented British software publishers, video game
developers in the UK are represented by The Independent Games
Developers Association. The importance of the ELSPA is that they
provide sales charts for computers and video games.
With offices in England, Scotland, and Wales and with their regional
representatives spread across the country BIMA exists to do four key
things...
Support and promote the British digital industry
Share knowledge and best practice
Reward great work
Encourage the next generation
BIMA is vitally important to the digital industry as being able to provide
a real and tangible community for digital professionals and to provide a
great sounding board for industry issues that affect us all.
These companies are very reliant on customer feedback, as they interact
with the public they can resolve any known problems
