Networks are Changing Fast
The Broadband Forums focus is on evolving networks
to better serve the latest applications
In Access, two main areas are addressed-
Access Aggregation and
The Last Mile, which could be-
DSL
Fiber or
Other transport options (e.g. WiMax)
We also develop network and digital home management
specifications
We expanded deep into the home to specify object models for
all varieties of online devices
Enables measures and provisioning options to ensure better
quality of customer experience.
Access Platforms must be able to handle all
types of access options
Fiber related specification in development:
WT-156 extends the IP Ethernet access aggregation in connection to a PON last mile.
WT-167 provided the common method for establishing PON fed DSLAMs
New work initiated on EPON and Ethernet point-to-point fibre access
