Bouncing Ball Lab
Purpose:
We did this lab to figure out how the number of bounces would change when a bouncy
ball is dropped from different heights. In this lab, we focused on how much the ball
would bounce as we dropped it from different
heights.

Hypothesis:
The higher we drop the ball, the more it will
bounce.

Materials:
Ping pong ball
Meter stick

Procedures:
First, we dropped the ball from 40cm in the air twice. Then, we dropped it twice from
60cm. We then dropped the ball twice from 80cm. Lastly, we dropped it from 100cm in
the air. The results are shown below.

DATA TABLE:

HEIGHT OF THE
DROP
(cm)
NUMBER OF TIME
THE BALL
BOUNCES
(First Time)

NUMBER OF
TIMES THE BALL
BOUNCES
(Second Time)

AVERAGE
NUMBER OF
BOUNCES
..

40 17 16 16.5
60 15 15 15
80 14 15 14.5
100 12 13 12.5

Conclusion:
Our results varied. In the end, we found that our hypothesis was not correct. We
discovered that the higher you drop the ball, the less it bounces. The results changed
because we changed a variable.
