Form: GPG2 (revised on May 28, 2013)
This form needs to be filled in by the graduate students who want to request a Teaching Assistantship (TA) or Grader Assistantship (GA) in the
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Usually, this form needs to be filled by August 10 if the assistantship is requested for the Fall
semester, December 1 if the assistantship is requested for the Spring semester, and April 1 if the assistantship is requested for the Summer semester, in
order to receive full consideration. This form needs to be submitted to the Graduate Program Assistant in the ECE office by the deadline.

The general policy of the Department is to award TA and GA for at most 4 semesters. However, depending of the experience, GPA,
and previous evaluations of the applicant the Department might award assistantships for more than 4 semesters.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
All international graduate students who are not native speakers of English are supposed to take the speaking section of the TOELF test
or the SPEAK test at FSU (http://cies.fsu.edu/itap/speak_exam.php). The university requires to have a score of 26 points or better in
the speaking section of the TOEFL test or 50 points of better in the SPEAK test in order to be eligible for a TA position. To be eligible
for a grader position the students must have at least 23-24 points in the speaking section of the TOEFL test or 45 points in the SPEAK
test.
