On October 6th, Alliance Construction will begin a major reconstruction of the intersection, redesigning it with new lanes and modern signals, with a target completion date of July 4, 2015. Construction at the First Avenue and Forest/Ridgewood intersection has
ceased, but only temporarily!

Kenny Constructions plan is to complete the drop shaft construction sometime Monday
afternoon (Sept. 8) before area schools let out. When they finish that task, all
vehicular/pedestrian traffic and crossing guard functions will return to normal sometime on
Monday - thats the good news.
Then, on Monday, October 6, Alliance Construction will begin major reconstruction to the
intersection working through winter redesigning the intersection by installing new lanes and
modern traffic/pedestrian signals. Target completion date - July 4, 2015.
During this time crosswalks and routes to and from school may be altered frequently.
The work is going to take a while to complete and, overall, it will be a stressful few months!
Knowing this, lets all work together, allowing ourselves extra time to get through the work
area, remembering to be extra patient with construction people working through inclement
seasonal weather, and being courteous to our fellow drivers during these improvements.
If we keep in mind that when complete, the intersection will be updated, safer for our children
and allow for better traffic flow it may be just a little easier to endure!
