A. Mechanics/Conventions of grammar
practice
B. On-going writing assignments/projects
C. Weekly and/or regular vocabulary and
spelling assignments

Wr i t i ng: (A portfolio will be kept of on-going
writing selections and other selected pieces.)
A. Domains covered: narrative, summary,
argumentative, and informational
B. Writing will be taught as a process
C. Journals will be kept
D. Writing Portfolios as a form of reflection,
and assessment
We will be exploring Earth science through lab
activities, observations, experiments, reading
and writing.

There will be a focus on non-fiction reading &
critical thinking skills in science.

The following topics will be covered:
- Mapping
- Tectonic Plates
- Volcanoes
- Earthquakes
- Earths Cycles & Systems
- Weathering & Erosion
- Natural Resources

-Homework will be given on a regular
basis as an extension of ideas/topics
introduced in class.
-Students have time daily to write down
assignments in class.
-HW is typically stamped for completion,
then graded/corrected & recorded.
Lat e Work: Students receive two
Homework Passes a quarter. These give
students an extra day for an assignment.
There is a penalty for late work that varies
depending on the situation.
Absent Work: students have as many
days as they were absent. Its their
responsibility to schedule a time to make-
up a test.
- Grades will be posted on Q-Shell Parent
Connect.
- Grades are updated weekly; essays or
larger projects may take up to two weeks
