Baseline Assessment
In the beginning of the school year it is
necessary to create a baseline of
knowledge for each child.
We need to establish:
*what they know
*still need to work on
*how to challenge them to achieve beyond
the level they are at now
Results of Testing
Children will be placed into flexible groups that are brought together on a
short term basis to target areas of academic weakness and challenge
students who are working at or above average grade level.
A students reading level will not be the only way students are grouped.
Students will be placed together to help them work on specific needs.
All baseline assessments are done with the purpose of differentiating
instruction to better meet the needs of all students.
Differentiated instruction will take place through grouping done
collaboratively among all three First Grade teachers. Each teacher will
instruct a group of students with a specific academic need.
