Graphs and Charts
These are my results which I have produced after getting my target audience
to fill in the questionnaire in which I created to help me gather information
about them which will help me produce the front cover and contents page
of my magazine.
60% of the students that I asked where female and only 40% where male. This
may or may not have affected the results of my graphs/charts.
50% of the students that I asked where aged 14-16, 20% where aged 17-18
and then the other 30% where aged 19 or over.

Knowing the types of magazines that students prefer is extremely important it
will then help me to understand what types of topics I need to cover within
my magazine so that my target audiences are interested in reading some the
things that will be produced on the magazines front cover and contents
page. From the data I have collected I now know that Appearance/ Fashion
is very important to us college students along with Music and Sports. I am
going to make sure that what I produce is very eye-catching as well as
needing to contain relevant information. Through images the way in which I
represent the students on my magazine (fashion) is very important.

Asking students what their favourite types of music is will help me when it
comes to talking about both music and celebrities. Knowing what type of
music is preferred by city college students is key as by producing
information on the most popular categories will tie in a wider variety
audiences and interest them. For other collage audiences hopefully there
will be something else of which will interest them, the pick and mix
theory.

Just like understanding the popular types of music that there is TV shows
are equally important as technology is a huge part of this target
audiences lives as many students watch TV, I also found out (from primary
research) that a large amount of students role models was
actors/actresses which means what this section has a large impact on
most teenagers lives. So including information on TV/Film as well as the
people they like is essential.
Knowing this information gives me an clearer idea on what type of people
this specific audience group look up to/aspire to be and why. When I am
creating my magazine I want to aim to aspire audiences and this information
can help me do so. Celebrity enforcement is extremely effective in the
magazine and advertising industry.

It was interesting to see which items of technology of more used. This
information will help me as from this data I can see that a lot of students
spend most time on laptops/computers, this means that (for my
magazine) rather than presenting my magazine through things such as
phone apps, it would be more effective to do so through social media
websites such as Facebook and twitter, although these can be
accessed on whatever audiences prefer to access information on.
Incentives on maybe winning these expensive prizes could also help
attract audiences as they are commonly used on a day to day basis.

Surprisingly film/cinema is one of students most favourite hobbies which
means incentives such as cinema tickets and discount would be of benefit to
both me as the producer and audiences. Many students probably enjoy this
activity as it for fills most needs of the Uses and Gratifications theory. Sport
will feature on my magazine and again as well as fashion and appearance
as those are the key things which matter to my audiences.
30% of the most popular sport turned out to be football I believe this is
because 30% out of 40% of the males I asked responded to football as
their answer. The second most popular sport turned out to be
Badminton which is a sport in which both Males and females can

participate in and enjoy, it is also one of the most commonly sports
which is played in doors. Sports might not be a huge part of my
magazine as I know (from secondary research) that a lot of college
students prefer not to participate in them. Although it important to
encourage students to be fit and healthy so I could go more along the
lines of health and fitness in a general matter.
A few of the students that I asked said that they did not have any
thought on what parts of the collage can be improved by which shows
that some of them do not have much interested in the collage itself but
the majority of the students that did respond to this question, said that
the collage cost could be improve more, this research helps me a lot as
I know that incentives such as deals and offers might largely help
persuade them by my magazine.

By knowing what events my target audiences want to participate in is
important so that my magazine can produce a lot of information on it
which will also help audiences want to by so that they can find out
more information about what they want to hear. As a lot of people
found that the Gym might interest them, my magazine could include
information about it to inform them such as memberships, prices and
opening times.
Things such as colours is important when it comes to what I need to
include in the design of my magazine, as the house style needs to be kept
the same throughout. The most popular colours from my primary
research turned out to be Purple, Blue and Black. When designing it is

good to stick to a 3 colour rule so that a magazine design doesnt come
across as too overwhelming therefore unattractive to view. I also need to
make sure that the colours that I used can be liked by both male and
female of this generation and age.
As I found out from earlier Fashion, Appearance and therefore clothing is
an important aspect of this target audience so with some of the most
popular clothing shops there can be different types of information on
them, for example; what things (from those shop) look good/ work well
together. By doing this audiences can be inspired on clothing looks which
is essential for this type of magazine. Popular shops such as Topshop and
Topman advertise (on the cover) incentives such as discount for students.

POPULAR CLOTHI NG SHOPS
Amount of Students
Just like understanding what the popular clothes shop are, it can be
helpful to know where our target audiences like to eat as many students
enjoy spending time with friends during the week, by doing things such as
talking over dinner (social interaction). A magazine could also include
things such as recipes with therefore it would be good to know what the
most popular types of eaten foods are from target audiences. Again
money saving opportunities on restraints could be a very effective
incentive.
