This is my research on how to study over two years.

I succeeded to get a distinction in 8000


students from many colleges. I did not spend more than two months in my college.
There are two important researches worth sharing before my study method. First research is
on human memory graph and the second one is about human concentration span.
First research tells us that, when you read something your memory of what you read or heard is
almost alive and its graph is horizontally at 100, and it slowly declines over time. !hen you
remind it after one day memory connections are strengthened. "ow its declination is very slow
as compared to without reminding. This speed decreases with every reminding of the thing you
want to be memorable of. It is e#plained in the picture below.
$on%t try to &ust memorize and be tensed about why I forget it soon. Try setting a remind plan
without any tension. 'ead it, and then leave it. 'ead again at evening, then again ne#t day and
then ne#t wee(. )#am yourself 1*th day, and then remind after one month. +our memory graph
will not decrease so easy now.
,econd research is about human attention span.
-s its clear from the above picture, human attention span is at .0 after /* minutes. 0ostly that
is the time schools assign to one class . In universities it is increased to one hour. Increase it
slowly, but better change your activity for some minutes after one hour and then start again with
attention of 10 after being refreshed.
-nother important thing regarding memory is reading a topic from many sources. It has two
benefits, less boredom and many different aspects of the same scenario. 2ater one increases
latency of information from different areas of mind when as(ed. The more connections your
brain ma(es with the information, the more li(ely it will stic( in your mind.
-nother important consideration is the productive hours. It may be different for few
people but mostly early morning is the most productive time.
'emember to (eep the room temperature a little warm. It will help in focusing.
-fter a lot of study about how to study I devised a plan, which was refined over time and
according to the results. "ow here is a refined plan, in which are inherent many researches and
e#periences I have come across.
Planning and managing your study
1.0a(e a timetable3 mine was 11 hours for study. It is first step to success. 4I was studying,
and interested in it, so I was giving my most of time to studying, you may have less than 11
hours of course. It &ust shows my dedication to study and dreams I had after studying. I was
in a poor family3 I (new without hard5wor(, I won%t be able to get along. -fter getting
position, I was able to continue my study free. I also received prize money from government
and a special training for more motivation and visits. +es a Talent -ward too.
6.7umans can concentrate for /0 minutes on a sub&ect, or ma#imum 1 hour. $o change your
study material8sub&ect after every /0 minutes or 1 hour. 9ut later on you can increase this
time slowly to 6 hours. I did this.
..,tart time table by learning new things, after loo(ing at the last day topics. 2ater chapters
in boo(s mostly have references from former ones. 2earning new things at start gives you
hope and ma(es you motivated.
/.$on%t start one sub&ect or module after the other3 ta(e a brea( of * to ten minutes. In this
time eat some chocolate, fruits and vitamins. $o some sit stands and go out to loo( in nature
and have an analog 4natural phenomena: thin(ing to refresh. This is a right clic( and refresh
for you on your des(top to start another application.
*.,tudy each sub&ect three times a day, design time table such that every sub&ect has . shifts
per day.
;.Ta(e notes in the first shift, and rehearse them in second shift and so on. "otes should not
be e#act copy of the boo( te#t.
<.'e5allocate time for your modules in timetable after every, ma#imum two wee(s. =r ta(e
your e#ams after one wee( and re5allocate based on the e#am results.
8.)#am yourself sometime in the middle of the time table.
1.7ave some e#tra time to loo( topics of this day you have studied, at the end of study time
table.
10.,econd day, start with loo(ing at the topics of the last day. 9ut never do an e#am at the
start of study time. Increase difficulty slowly from start to end.
11.$o some statistics on important and less important sub&ects or difficult and easy sub&ects
and divide time with statistics methods. For e#ample by first assigning the difficulty level to
each sub&ect li(e /0 and ;0 etc.
16.If studying something which could be easily implemented in home or lab, don%t miss it. I,
when studying biology, had tried to produce a new family of a tree though it was &ust a try
and nothing resulted. I have been programming to simulate the physics concepts which
helped a lot.
Subject specific study techniques
1.For math sub&ects, try to solve a >uestion, if you fail, &ust do it with your hands by loo(ing
at some help boo(. -fter you finish copying by hands, you will infer what was missing. This
is called learning with hands not mind. This is because some time an answer tells you about
the solution in math.
6.For physics sub&ects, start with writing the topics e>uation, prove it on paper same as
stated above in 4math method:, then start with the theory. -ttach e>uation with the topic.
..For )nglish, write difficult words on the note boo(. 2earn them first.
/.For theory sub&ects, read a lot on the same topic from different sources, read the topic on
boo(, leave it. "ow read it on !i(ipedia and leave it. 2earn it on some other boo(. This is
easy and very useful method. $on?t try to learn from your boo( only this will bore you and
you won%t remember well.
Exam Tips
1.)nd preparing for e#ams about one wee( before. $esign your e#ams timetable so that your
intense preparation ends about one wee( before the first day of paper. This will help in

..=ne wee( e#tra preparation. The last )@T'- wee( is now more valuable than one month.
)verything you will do in this wee( will be e#tra and very motivational for you.

above it (ills productive study and focus. Ahange study module for the sa(e of attaining
mind focus and refreshment, at least.
*.'eview your notes the day before paper. This will give you an overview of all topics plus
strengthening the memory connections for those topics.
;.-fter paper is over. $on%t throw >uestion paper into dust bin, thin(ing that it%s gone now.
It can help your mind settle down. 'ead and e#amine how much you done right.
<.Beep calculating mar(s you obtained in each paper and adding to total. It will motivate
you, li(e we do in scoring games.
8.$on%t forget the one and only solution for refreshment and energy of mind, the e#ercise
and healthy foods in e#ams.
Miscellaneous facts
1.$on?t listen to love music or such type of songs. 2isten to some good motivational music

6.$o ta(e some time for spirituality or loneliness, for many reasons it%s important.

;.Flay with children, they are also learning, observe them and their interest.

8.If possible, do have some time to teach someone. It will be best, if you can teach what you
are learning yourself.

distraction and burden from your mind.
