1. Select one current event article from the past 10 days.


News Article should be a NEWSPAPER or NEWS MAGAZINE
Internet articles will result in a 10% deduction in your score
2. On a blank piece of paper complete the following:
Neatly cut the article and glue it onto the paper
Highlight the main ideas of the article
Put the News Source and article date on the paper
Write a summary paragraph (4-5 sentences)
Write an opinion paragraph about why it matters (3-4
sentences)
3. Guidelines
Articles must be within last 10 days
Summaries are written in your own words
Both paragraphs are written in complete sentences
DO NOT write.., In my opinion., I think that these are
passive phrases and unnecessary
No Sports (Unless its the Olympics)
4. Be prepared to present the article in class (1-2 minutes)
