Classroom Organisation: Teach led lesson, whole class discussion and individual/paired student working. Resources/Materials: Text from The Little Refugee and The Happiest Refugee by Anh Do. Compare and Contrast planner.
Learning Experiences: 1. Teacher led lesson. After both texted sheets are handed out, and any required paired students move. 2. Class read aloud the stories, then the whole class discussion about the two texts. 3. Discussion will be: similarities and differences between both texts and the audience that the author was talking to. 4. Students are able then to start working on these on the planner. 5. Once students have done this, another whole class discussion of sharing ideas.
