OBJECTIVE
Project deals with multifuel fired boiler
design consideration/improvements
Multifuel firing offer advantages on fuel flexibility
& plant availability
Present works carried out along with limitations
shall be considered
Suggested improvements will be elucidate
INTRODUCTION
Many industries need captive power (Steel &
Cement).Being a volatile grid it is often risky to depend on
grid. Specifically in steel plants there are no of low energy
gases produced in the process such as BFG, CO, COREX
gas and the few that can be named.
Profitability of such plants is established if the captive
units can also export power to the grid. Being low in
quality fuel is planned to be fired (Coal/oil) along with
these gases, unit size can be increased. Such unit will be
considered as Multifuel fired boiler.
This project outlines the design consideration for
multifuel fired boiler with a focus on Co firing lean
gases (BFG, CO, COREX,COKEOVEN) with higher
grade fuels (OIL,COAL)
Such approach offers compromise on the efficiency of
the boiler but gives an advantage on the higher
availability and flexibility for the plant operators.
The proposed objective outlined above is planned to
be presented in this report with the consideration on
the present work carried out. Limitations and the
possible improvements
ADVANTAGES
captive units can also export power to the grid
unit size can be increased due to
Low quality fuel can be used, planned to be fired
(Coal/oil) along with these gases
Co Firing of other gases shall be possible
Efficiency of the Boiler is maintained
higher availability & Flexibility for the Plant operators.
