Feile Samhain
BLAI NE, WASHI NGTON
Dear friends in dance:
We wish to welcome you back to Feile Samhain, sponsored by the Pacific Celtic Foundation. Historically, Samhain (the forerunner to Halloween) was a time for friends and family to come together to renew their bonds of kinship and remember those who had departed. Thank you for celebrating the Celtic New Year with us and continuing a time-honored tradition!
After eight years in Portland, Oregon and a one-year hiatus, we are pleased to host this years event at the Blaine Performing Arts Center in Blaine, Washington, just across the border from Vancouver, BC. We would like to welcome this years distinguished adjudicating panel: Laura Masters-LeMesurier from Los Angeles, Niall OLeary from New York, and Sharon Whelan-MacSweeney from San Francisco, with the musical talents of Sean Owen Shaffer from Akron, Ohio.
This event would not be possible without the countless hours of planning and preparation by our feis committee: Sue Cannon, Gina Caples, Noal Clemons, Becky Fisk, Jennifer Ford, Mandy and Angela Schaubwords cannot express our gratitudeand to all of the families of An Daire Academy, without whom an event of this magnitude could never happen. Go raibh mile maith agaibh!
In the spirit of the season, our goal is great competition seasoned with lots of fun! As always, we will feature the Costume Reel, a 16 bar anything goes competition that challenges competitors to come up with their creative best, with 50% to be awarded in all competitions!
To assist us in making this an enjoyable weekend for all, we ask that you be dressed and ready to dance one hour before your scheduled time as we may run up to an hour ahead.
Best wishes to all competitors this weekend and a very Happy Samhain!
Jim Mueller, ADCRG, Lauren Crowe-Mueller, TCRG, and the Feile Samhain Feis Committee
