TASK 1A Analyse the front cover of a magazine.

The header summarises the main artists which will feature in NME
magazine. These artists are appropriate to the magazine because
they are popular rock bands which link to NME magazines genre and
style.
The masthead NME
stands out on the page
due to the large text and
white box behind it
contrasting with the red
coloured font. The
colour red connotes
danger and rebellion
which is represented a
lot with in the rock
industry. The
abbreviation of enemy
to just three letters
represents the
magazines being edgy
appealing to a young
target audience.
The Footer at the bottom of the
page just lists other artists which
will feature in the magazine. The
symbol of plus at the beginning
emphasises that there is much more
context inside than what has been
shown on the front cover.
Puff/Cover mount a code and
convention of a magazine
grabbing the readers attention
to this particular feature in the
magazine.

Barcode,date line,issue and price
are all essential elements on a
magazine in order to sell copies.
This area doesnt stand out on the
page due to its small text however
this is a code and convention as
this isnt the most important
information on the page therefore
doesnt need to catch the readers
eye.
Main sell line in a large
white capital letters stands
out against the busy
background. The main sell
line is Dizzee Rascal
working as celebrity
endorsement, appealing to
a wider range of audiences
other than rock. Dizzee
Rascal is popular artist
within the rap genre
therefore that genres
target audience would be
interested in buying NME
as well as rocks audience.
Main image is a long
shot conventionally
because the reader can
visually see him head to
toe. However Dizzee
Rascals posture makes it
seem more like a
medium shot. The
posture represents a laid
back informal style.
Direct address is given
stimulating a personal
interaction with each
individual reader.

this may rub of onto the
reader making them feel
