Part II: Reflection
CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS: (Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and leadership from completing this field experience?
During the lesson plan project, I helped in implementing the plan effectively to students. I was able to introduce how to use a class wiki, download and upload documents as well as introduce how to use Prezi, Voice Thread and camera equipment. I was able to give a brief lesson on the days shown above on the specific activities and help students as needed for the remainder of the class. What I learned is that it may take a little longer to coach students how to use some of these tools, while other students may get the hang of it. It is ok to use the students who understand how to use these tools to help others. I also learned that students really are excited to upload information where it is able to be viewed by their peers. It makes them more accountable for their work.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
In order to effectively implement this lesson plan, I need to have prior knowledge on how to upload and download information from one place to another(class wiki). If my students have trouble with this, I will need to know how to assist them immediately in order to make the lesson run smoothly. I also must have the same attitudes towards the other tools that the students must use during this lesson plan such as Prezi, video recording equipment, Voice Thread, Microsoft Word and Excel. I be able to help and trouble shoot with all of these items. I also must have previously taught my students on how to be responsible on the internet. I should be able to trust them throughout this project because rules and regulations have already been established. Students should have signed a contract and have to learn minimal new concepts in order to produce work for this project. They will learn new types of technology, but I will have needed to understand these technologies beforehand. I will also have to teach them about making good choices when searching the internet for the best information for their projects.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
I believe that this field experience impacted school improvement because the theme school wants to encourage the use of higher order thinking projects that use technology. As a school, we want to set ourselves a part from other middle schools. By using new concepts, we are teaching the students how to effectively and correctly use technologies that they may use in the future. It can impact not only the school but our community by developing better technology skills amongst our future citizens.
