Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection
NAEYC Standard:
STANDARD 7. EARLY CHI LDHOOD FI ELD EXPERI ENCES
Field experiences and clinical practice are planned and sequenced so that candidates develop the knowledge,
skills and professional dispositions necessary to promote the development and learning of young children across
the entire developmental period of early childhood in at least two of the three early childhood age groups
(birth age 3, 3 through 5, 5 through 8 years) and in the variety of settings that offer early education (early
school grades, child care centers and homes, Head Start programs). (NAEYC, 2010)

Brief Description of Evidence:
During the fall semester of 2014 during my ECED 260-Early Childhood Professional course, I
individually worked to create a formatted resume. The resume is a created document which gives
knowledgeable skills and professional dispositions about things I have completed throughout my time in the
work field. My evidence of skills was shown through a cover letter which gave insight to what the resume was
going to say and express the determination for the early childhood work field. This detailed document gave
information on education, core competences, activities/accomplishments and professional experiences.

Analysis of What I Learned:
Through completion of resume, I learned the importance of gathering information about myself and the
skills I have completed. . I now know the importance of early childhood professionals and what
resources/information may need to be provided. Through this artifact I learned what it meant to speak
positively of myself and distribute information in a professional manner. The completion of this artifact will
help build future skills and learning of the professional field and the documentation and skills needed.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:
This project is just one of many projects in which I worked individually with a variety of settings which
could be incorporated in my resume. My knowledge, kills and professional dispositions are important for the
development of my career in the early childhood field. Field experiences and clinical practices are outside
sources which can be used in this artifact which can show my competence in the profession field.
