We scavenged through the musty and moldy cold tunnel leading us to the
bright room far ahead of us. I heard the echoing drops of murky water drip onto the
scattered puddles that lied like half dead creatures, just barely able to move as the
water rippled through them. The way was just lit up by our 1-inch flashlight only
being able to see 3 feet ahead.
Are we there yet? Michelle asked. She was the youngest of our group, only 3 feet
tall, soulful brown eyes, and ready for anything coming her way.
No. Thats the 5th time you asked and it better be the last. I replied.
I heard a loud sigh coming from behind me. It was my brother, Jim.
Jim, youre 14. You dont have the right to be whining or complaining like
Michelle. The drops of water and splashing of our feet rumbling the unsteady
tunnel filled my ears with wonder.
WN 16: Free write on this imageI stepped onto the crunchy brown leaves leading me to nowhere. My face drooled
with sweat in the musty and sticky environment. A sudden breeze of air came
rushing onto my bare head as I walked ahead. I checked my surroundings. As I
looked up, I saw nothing in the sky. The birds had dissapeared, clouds had
surrounded me as if I was in a snow globe. Only so far to go before you hit nothing.
My face grew with anticipation as I took a step near the brush closeby. I looked for
caves or holes, but there was none to be seen. Why you may ask? Because the storm
was coming. People had always talked about storms coming in the guapigi forests,
but I had never believed them. They sounded so unbelievable it was hard to trust
the word of mind before performing a test.
WN 20: Prompt- Write something that vividly describes a recent place that you
traveled to for pleasure. This is nonfiction writing only.
My favorite place to go on vacation since I was two is Slovakia. This wondrous place
shares a small sliver of Europe, but a big place in my heart. My favorite part of this
trip is when I get to go see my two very good friends; Esterka and Teresa. They are
very fun, and have a large house with a beautiful view. I love to play with them and
their pet hamster as well. We always end up making something new that I would
have never thought of making here. I also love getting to spend time with my
grandmother. She is very calm, and loves to do housework. I usually help her
throughout the day to spend to share with her as well as baking with her which I
enjoy as well. I had recently discovered a zoo there that has all of the animals you
could imagine from skunks to monkeys. The best part is, you get to visit nearly all of
them. The spectacular views are wonderful to see as you watch the very happy and
playful animals come and visit you. I also love how they let the tortoise and kittens
run around the whole outdoor zoo and do not have to worry about them getting out.
It makes me very happy to see how happy they are. This has been my favorite place
to go in the world, especially with Ester and Teresa. I cant wait to go back there this
year, and the next, as each year I get more and more satisfied with the food, animals,
and of course most of all family.

I looked at the beautiful rocks that rest down at the water bathing in the clear ocean
water. The sun shone bright and orange, and the day got more and more weary. I
listened to the soft brushing of the waves, as each one got a new turn to feel the
rocky beach. The air was crisp and salty, filled with birds lightly covered by the
rustling of trees. I sat down on the rocky path and took in this beautiful view while
eating my delicious sandwich. I drew my eyes to the rocks, and created pictures
them as dinosaurs, people, and children, and imagined what it would be like if they
were people. If they would be happy, sad, or excited to always be sitting in the same
spot. A bird swooped down next to me from the shrubs nearby; to say hello is what I
was assuming. The bird was so majestic; like a human dancer, as it flashed its wings
into different patterns and shapes. This, was a moment I would never forget.

I stretched my arms wide with a smile as I slowly arose from my warm and
comforting bed. I peeled my blanket off of me as slowly as possible, while petting my
snuggly and sleepy dog. I rested my feet onto the fresh and cold carpet as I shuffled
my way into the bathroom to take the crust out of my eyes. I opened my bedroom
window to hear the silence of trees, and the happiness of singing birds. I felt the cold
and snowy wind brush itself around me almost as a welcoming to their town. The
aroma of waffles and pancakes filled my nose with anticipation as I drowsily drifted
to the kitchen. There, I hear soft voices, and the tamed shifting of forks and knifes.
As I look outside, I see the snowfall slowly taking its place again just as it did the
other morning.
Good morning Emily My mom whispers.
Good morning, I softly reply.
and confused, but still I keep walking. My head becomes heavy over my feet. 4
hours 5 hours when will it end. I start seeing things. A girl floats beside me. Her
hair is luscious and white, but so see-through I am repulsed to touch. I see the other
side of the thin walls thorough her. One heel lay in front of my toe as I walk. The
path is now too small for me to walk side by side with anyone, but somehow she is
there. Swaying back and forth, rippling. She looks at me.
You are taking and endless path to the minds of many people. Once, I was here too.
Scared, pulled in by the invisible force. There is no way of getting out. You have
walked six hundred miles. It will take you 300 more to go.
My eyes are widened and I am smiling. Sweat drips down my face as the path comes
to a constant. I open my mouth to talk, though nothing comes out. The girl strangles
my voice.
Do not talk. Just listen. I cant stop looking at her. Her small glow is the only light
to see her. She turns her head and looks away.
