ANALYSIS OF 15 DIGITAL GRAPHICS TO PROMOTE A RANGE

OF ARTISTS.
MORVARID RAUFY

Emli Sande is has kept her album cover

very simple and plain, as she only has a
picture of herself on the front cover with her
name in large front and then just the album
cover name. As we can she has not used
any colours and stuck with her black and
white style.
Emili's songs are known to be slow,
emotional and not very cheerful or uplifting
therefore by keeping her album cover plain
and has not incorporated colours to match
the theme.

This magazine has used two colours which are, yellow and white.
This helps to focus on the front and what has been written so
the audience don't get distracted. The yellow writing is for the main
information as it is in larger front and yellow is more eye catching
than white.
In the image Nicki Minaj, is standing in a certain position that would
attract men, this also links in with the facial expressions and the way
she is dressed. The zip is
half way down showing the audience some skin and cleavage, and
this is to be put there to catch the eyes of men. This is anexample of
the Male Gaze theory
by Laura Mulvey as shes put
herself to look a certain way so that men can be attracted to her.

On the front cover we see the image of Drake, he is the main focus and we
know this because the cover is so simply and he is the only thing standing
out to us. The use of gold props helps to signify he is a rapper, also
representing his wealth and fame but this is shown to be conventional.
Drake is not giving direct eye contact to the audience, representing that he
may be ashamed of the things he has done, this also reflects upon the album
which may give the audience the idea that this album may not be a normal
up beat fun album. This could link in well with the songs and the audience
may not be getting the normal expected stereotype album from drake
therefore they might think its not be as good. Take Care which again reflects
on the album and that it will be a deep and meaningful album. The name of
the album which does not stand out as much because Drake wants to bring
the audience more into the background of the digital

In this magazine Emili has used dark clothing creating more

emphasis her face this has been done in relation to her album.
shadows have been used to create composition, with mixtures of
light and dark tones.
The hair colour Emili is rocking in this picture is blonde and the title
is 'My blonde ambition' therefor it relates to her hairstyle/colour, this
has also bee done consciously as she is known for her blonde hair
and it part of her image and own style.
Once again in this magazine Emili's names is the largest font on the
page and is also in italics, this is to also emphasis her name, it
targeted to the members of the public who are familiar with her and
it will be that her name is the first thing that will catch their eye and
draw them in.
There has been a use of Grey/ black and white background, we can
see that the black frame from outside the magazine

The layout of this Digi pack goes with the conventions of the Digi
pack. The cover has an image of the artist Katy Perry and her name.
Katy's image has been put directly in the middle of the front cover
and this has been to bring all attention on her. This is in relation with
the theory of Male Gaze by Laura Mulvey, as the way she is dressed
and positioned would make men attracted. In the bottom right corner
there is an advisory logo directing the viewers there is explicit content
on some of the songs.
The layout links in well with the artist and her music as it looks
feminine and joyful, which connects in with the whole
candy theme. This is portrayed on her CDs as one of
them is a doughnut with sprinkles on it and the other is a red and
white candy, which helps to link the whole package.

Looking back at the pervious album and this, one we can see the resemblance and similarities,
such as she has again stuck with the black and white look. This shows that it is part of her image
and not just a theme for one album. Once again Emili has just change the positioning of her name
and the title of the album and has a different picture of herself.

Black and white is used for Adele's image to gives the

audience an understanding of her music, by showing
that her music is soft and calm and that it can also be
emotion and black a white usually indicates sadness.
The pose Adele is making on this poster looks as
though she is fed up and depressed also makes her
look as if she is upset. This signifies that her music is
meaningful and upsetting or 'she's speaking from the
heart'. The close-up used on this image helps to bring
emphasis on her expressions.
Her name is in a larger front and this has been done
to attract the Adele fans and allow people to know or
start recognizing her and her name.

The main colours used on this album is cream, black and

white. The front and the back on the panels used all these
colours in order to link the product together as one. The guys
costumes are mainly black, these colours are natural and helps
to show them out more from the rest of the background and lets
us fully focus on them.
The font used is the same throughout the album apart from the
sizes which differ. The Script is done in capital letters and bold
to emphasis the bands name to the audience and fans. The
name of the album is written small and thin, therefore bringing
less attention to the name and more on the image as it may
have more information and could link in with the album name.
