Group members presented on the controversy around whether Lays chips are halal or haram. The problem arose when an E-code (E631) on Lays packets was identified, and some research showed this code can indicate use of pig fat. This negatively impacted Lays' sales and reputation. To solve the issue, the brand conducted campaigns on social media and hired Junaid Jamshed as a brand ambassador to assure the products are 100% halal. Additional assurances were provided from government bodies and religious organizations that Lays contains only vegetable fats and is halal. The company claims to only use halal ingredients.
