Humans. Homo sapiens. Defining characteristic: Intelligence.


Dictionary definition: the ability to deal with new or trying situations.
Intelligences Psychologist’s definition: the potential to adapt to one’s
environment, or to shape it, or to select a totally new environment.

Flat global world. New cultures, new contexts.


Unforeseen technologies, unforeseen markets, unpredictable demands.
Need of the hour: Intelligence. Not just IQ. Not just Emotional Intelligence.

Five Leadership Intelligences. Driving solid, dynamic, creative, persuasive, & ethical leadership

Analytical intelligence: define problems; identify Inventive intelligence: create new solutions and
solutions that have worked in the past in similar products; solve problems not seen before; root of
situations; monitor performance; root of learning. imagination, vision, and inspiration.
Operational intelligence: transform ideas into Communicative intelligence: persuade; motivate;
action efficiently; implementation-oriented; convince others of the value of ideas through
leadership by example. words and speech.
Ethical intelligence: recognize ethical implications of
decisions; go beyond parochial self-interest and
expedience.
