Our Class Mission Love Learn Lead Upcoming Events

The first grade class will be going on a field trip to see a production of Seussical in December. They will also be celebrating the winter holiday season by learning about traditions from around the world and hosting a Whobilation celebration of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Upcoming events this month include Math and Munchies, a visit to the Book Fair, and a Chick Fil A fundraiser night. Students will be focusing on informational texts, consonant blends, writing stories of their choice, decomposing two digit numbers, using counter balances in science, and comparing customs from different countries in their lessons for the week.

Upcoming Events
Parents and Families,
We are so excited for our field trip to see a Seussical on
December 12th! If your child does not bring a permission slip,
they will not go on the trip.
First grade will begin learning about winter holidays around
the world this month. Right before we leave for our winter
break, we will have a winter celebration of the popular book,
How The Grinch Stole Christmas. First grade will host a
Whobilation that will be so much fun! Please see the flyer in
the folder for more information!
Also be on the lookout for interim reports this week!

The Week Ahead

Reading: We are beginning a new unit exploring


informational text. We will discuss the differences in
genres. We will begin by learning about different winter
holidays around the world.
Letterland:This week we will introduce the consonant
blends with s.
Writing: Weve finished writing All About Thanksgiving
books together. Now students will write All About stories
of their own choice.
Math: Students will decompose two digit numbers into
tens and ones. Students will solve word problems using
their knowledge of tens and ones.
Science: Students will use counter balances to balance
objects.
Social Studies: We will continue to compare the customs
and traditions of different countries around the world.
