Ali: Middle- 6th and 7th grade (90 minute periods).


Jennifer: High School- Art I and Art II (90 minute

GOALS AND RATIONALE

Collection is one of the tools we have to express who


we are as humans. So through this unit students will be
exploring, through collection, themselves and the world
around them. Students will use meaningful thinking and
making to individually translate the topics given to them.

Throughout time and across cultures collection has been


a way of artists and people have remembered parts of
life.
Throughout time and across cultures humanity has
collected things to understand, build, and communicate
their existence.

Collection is a way of identifying ourselves
Collection makes us complex creatures
Collection is what humanizes us, but also what
dehumanizes us.

Objects, feelings, accomplishments, disappointments,
memories, etc.
A collection of anything holds a certain level of
significance to a person.
Collection can be a reflection on just a portion of ones
identity.
