Avsar, Veysel, and Umut Unal. "Trading Effects of the Fifa World Cup." Kyklos. 67.3
(2014): 315-329. Print.
This source explains the economic benefits of the World Cup. The majority of
the text is comprised of a study done during the event using the competing nations and
non-competing nations. The article cements the significance of the World Cup and
denies the fact that it is just a sporting event. The study conducted proved that trading
between competing nations increases during the event and is greater between
competing nations than non-competing nations.
This source was used to support the statement that the World Cup is a significant
bucket list item to complete because of its cultural, societal, and economical impact.
The article was useful enough to include in my paper, however it was not as useful as I
would have liked. The majority of the composition focuses on the experience of the
World Cup and the impact it has on ones life, not the world.
This is a credible source because it was found in the J. Murrey Atkins Library
located at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, an accredited university in North
Carolina.

FIFA. The Official Website of the FIFA World Cup. FIFA, n.d. Web. 5 Oct. 2014
This source includes any and all information on the World Cup pertaining to
location, brackets, articles, competing teams and much more. It is the official website of
the governing body of the global sport of soccer and operates in 6 out of the 7
continents.
The website clarified some information about the structure of the tournament, so I
could explain it to someone that does not follow the sport. The source was very useful
when writing the first and second draft, though not very useful for the final draft as I had
changed the direction I was choosing to expand on. Although not as useful as I would
have liked for the final submission anybody who is still ignorant of the topic can check
out the source for information.
This source is definitely credible as it is the official site of the governing body of
soccer. FIFA is known throughout the sports world and when it comes to soccer, makes
the rules for the game. FIFA also partners with EA to produce yearly video games
based on the popular sport.

Murray, W. J. The World's Game: A History of Soccer. Urbana: U of Illinois, 1996. Print.
The book basically explains the sport of soccer and briefly goes over the history
of the game itself. Also covers topics pertaining to things surrounding the sport,
specifically the fan base.
This was very useful to me because it supported my statement that one reason
to go to the World Cup is for the experience. You will never meet crazier fans than
soccer fans and it only strengthens the experience of going to the event. The author
states that due to the nature of its fans for the stars, the game of soccer has seen more
riots and brawls than any other sport.
This is a credible source because it was found in the J. Murrey Atkins Library
located at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, an accredited university in North
Carolina.

Simmons, Bill. "Why I Love the World Cup." Weblog post. ESPN.com: Page 2. ESPN, 5
July 2006. Web. 5 Oct. 2014.
Bill Simmons article is about his month long daily routine during the World Cup.
He documents his mornings and briefly describes why he likes the sport of soccer. He
clearly states that though he is not a soccer fan, he still enjoys watching the game. The
source was used to show that you do not have to be a fan of soccer to enjoy watching it,
meaning that anyone can go to the World Cup.
This source was very useful as it cements my theory that going to the World Cup
is for everybody, not just soccer fans. Bill Simmons, who generally analyzes basketball,
stated in the article that he enjoys the sport because of the atmosphere of it, and the fan
base.
This is credible because Bill Simmons is a featured writer and popular analyst on
ESPN and primarily SportsCenter. ESPN, being the worldwide leader in sports
coverage, and SportsCenter, ESPNs premier flagship program documenting daily
sports news and highlights.

Van, Vuuren E. "The 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa™ : an Overview of This
Exciting Event : 2010 Fifa World Cup." Civil Engineering = Siviele
Ingenieurswese. 18.2 (2010): 32-37. Print.
This source documents the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Essentially a
biography of the event itself, Van Vuuren covers everything about the event ranging
from the games to the fans.
This source was not as useful as I had hoped, mostly because it pertains to one
specific World Cup instead of the event in general although it did help me convey my
opinions about going. It is significant though, due to the fact that Van Vuurens
statement exciting event can be applied to all World Cups since for the sake of the
argument and the essay, is true. It is also repeated in the title to show importance.
This is a credible source because it was found in the J. Murrey Atkins Library
located at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, an accredited university in North
Carolina.
