Rhyming Lesson

This lesson plan aims to teach 2nd grade students about rhyming words. Students will identify rhyming words in poems and create their own rhyming words. To do this, the teacher will start with an icebreaker activity to engage students. They will then activate prior knowledge about rhyming words by asking for examples. Students will complete a rhyming flower activity where they underline or color code rhyming words in poems. To conclude, they will listen to a Dr. Seuss book containing rhymes and reflect on rhyming words they recognized. The teacher will assess understanding by having students identify and generate their own rhyming words.
