How to Google:
Search terms called operators can help you get far more specific results. Here are some of the most
useful.

For our term papers and other writings, simple Googling wont do the trick on its own. Enter Google
Scholar, which exclusively searches academic and scholarly work that is, the kind of work well need to
be citing in our papers.

Finding, activating and using your UG Mail address

Go to UGs website: www.ug.edu.gh


Look for the MIS web link at the bottom
Login to your MIS web
Click on Student Enquiry
Click on Detail Address/Contacts Enquiry
You should find your email address under ET Email Address in the format
[email protected]
Copy the email address
Go to www.gmail.com
Enter the copied email address into the Email section
For those logging in for the first time, your password is your student ID
You will be given the option to change your password after login.

NB: UGMail does not only give you access to email but also gives you unlimited storage capacity on
google drive. You can save whatever you want on there and be rest assured that they will always be
there. Best part, your UGMail address is yours to keep, even after completing UG.

Using Balme Librarys Database


Aside the UGMail, the university has gone to great lengths to make certain resources available to make
our scholarship easier. The Balme library website balme.ug.edu.gh or library.ug.edu.gh gives links to
wealths of resources at your disposal. You can find access to scholarly databases such as JSTOR, which
publish content that you cant access for free elsewhere.
So far as you are on campus and connected to the Universitys Internet system you can access them for
free. To ensure access when off-campus or using your private internet however, you will have to register
for an off-campus access

Go to ezproxy.ug.edu.gh
Click on Register for Off-Campus Access
Fill the form with your details and send
After 48 or more hoursvisit the ezproxy.ug.edu.gh again and login in with username and
password u used to fill the form.
5. Voila! You should have access.
6. If you dont have access, shoot an email to [email protected] (Mrs. Theodosia Adanu) and
you will have it fixed in no time.
