production in process industry; both practitioners and theoreticians have built strong interests on the
industrial application of control theory since it experienced a history of bloom. Dynamic Matrix Control
(DMC) is especially powerful for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) control systems. DMC is its
ability to deal with the constraints and algorithm of the DMC has the following advantages: simple
algorithm, less on line calculation, high control precision and disturbance attenuation by the theory
analysis and simulation. The main advantage of DMC is the fact that it allows the current timeslot to be
optimized, while keeping future timeslots in account. This is achieved by optimizing a finite time horizon,
but only implementing the current timeslot. PID and LQR controllers do not have this predictive ability.
The PID controller handles only a single input and a single output (SISO systems) and also PID controller
does not have the ability to deal with the constraints, the difficult for PID controllers include large time
delays. Thus the main aim of my work is to optimization of Quadratic dynamic matrix controller for D.C
motor speed control. The optimization concept such as DMC can easily deal with multivariable case and
also can be used to control a large number of processes with different kinds of dynamics and delays.
