Advantages Vs Disadvantages IDP

The conventional system uses ponding to treat wastewater, achieving 90% reduction in BOD and COD but releasing 55% of methane into the atmosphere. The proposed system uses a two-stage closed anaerobic digester to achieve a higher 90-95% reduction in BOD and COD without methane release. It traps the methane to utilize as an energy source. The proposed system provides environmental benefits like renewable energy production and reduced emissions. It also provides financial benefits through reduced energy costs and income from energy sales. However, it may involve higher capital and maintenance costs.

Conventional System VS Proposed System

Conventional System

Proposed System

1. Through ponding system.

1. Application of two stages closed

anaerobic digester.

2. Efficiency of reduction of BOD and COD

up until 90% but methane gas release
about 55%.

2. Efficiency of reduction of BOD and COD

can reach up between 90% ~ 95% and no
methane gas release.

3. Methane release to atmosphere.

3. Methane gas were trapped and utilized

for energy.
