Geometry 2-d Resource Page

This document defines key vocabulary terms related to 2-D geometry. It explains that a polygon is a closed shape with only straight sides, and the number of sides determines the type of polygon. A rhombus has all equal sides, while a parallelogram has two pairs of parallel sides. It also defines other shapes like quadrilaterals, triangles, and circles, as well as geometric elements such as vertices, angles, and sides. Examples and diagrams are provided to illustrate the different terms.

2-D Geometry Key Vocabulary

Polygon- is a closed shape that has only straight lines

(The number of sides of a polygon tells you what type of a polygon it
is. A four sided polygon is called a quadrilateral (squares or
rectangles).
Rhombus- a polygon where all the sides are the same length
Parallelogram- a polygon where two sides are parallel and the other
two sides are parallel
Parallel- lines or sides that run side by side and do not cross

Quadrilateral-is a polygon with four sides and four vertices

are called vertices).
