Religion: This week we are talking about saying

thank you. We read two scripture stories. One was
about God acting like a good father and the second
one was about one man saying thank you to
Jesus. We reviewed the seasons of the church
year. Our prayer table has a green cloth to remind
us that it is Ordinary Time until Ash Wednesday.
Reading: We are working with long vowel sounds
spelled with 2 vowel letters. We practiced adding
endings of ing and ed. We are working on
identifying long and short vowel sounds in words.
Math: We practiced solving word problems. We
reviewed our strategies for solving addition and
subtraction problems. After reading a problem,
students chose the method they would use to find
the answer. They shared their ideas with the class.
We discovered that there is more than one way to
find the answer!
Science: We started our penguin unit. We
watched 2 video clips from Discovery Education
about penguins. Interesting fact: Did you know
there are a group of penguins that live in the
forests of New Zealand? Stay tuned for more
information about these amazing birds!
