Wood Beam: Material Properties

This document contains calculations for a wood beam with the dimensions of 4x8. The beam is made of Douglas Fir-Larch wood with a grade of No. 1. It has a span of 3.75 feet and is subjected to uniform and point loads. The maximum bending stress ratio and maximum shear stress ratio were calculated to be 0.347:1 and 0.325:1 respectively, indicating the design is okay based on the allowable stresses provided for the wood species and grade. The maximum deflections under different load combinations are also reported.
