Freshmen are pre-assigned introductory courses in calculus, economics, academic writing, and technology and world change. They are also assigned intermediate math for economics if exempted from calculus. Additional biddable courses include analytical skills, creative thinking, management communication, leadership and team building, and intro to statistical theory. Students not assigned academic writing in term 1 will take it in term 2. BSc economics students must take intro to statistical theory, while others can choose between that and introductory statistics. Freshmen are divided into blocks A and B for course pre-assignments across terms 1 and 2.

Students who are not pre-assigned Academic Writing in Term 1 will be pre-assigned in Term 2
Management Communication (COMM101) - Only for students who are exempted from Academic Writing.

BSc (Econ) students (whether BSc (Econ) is primary or secondary degree) must take STAT151 Intro to
Statistical Theory instead of STAT101 Introductory Statistics in Year 1. Students from other degrees can take
either STAT101 Introductory Statistics or STAT151 Intro to Statistical Theory.
Freshmen are randomly divided into 2 blocks, namely Blocks A and B for the pre-assignment of courses.
Freshmen will be pre-assigned 2 to 5 CUs of courses from the above tables in Term 1. The courses that are not
pre-assigned to freshmen in Term 1 will be pre-assigned in Term 2.
