Pmse Abstract

This document provides an overview of a project to personalize mobile search results based on a user's preferences and location. It outlines the following: 1) The objective is to capture user preferences from click-through data and build personalized profiles. 2) Existing systems require manual location entry, while the studied model profiles both content and location preferences using an ontology and GPS data. 3) The method involves reranking search results on the server using content and location weight vectors, and updating the ontology based on clicks on the client.

Objective
The aim of the project is to capture the users

preferences in the form of concepts by mining

their click through data and personalize the
user profile .

Introduction
A major problem in mobile search is that the

interactions between the users and search

engines are limited by the small form factors
of the mobile devices.
In

order to return highly relevant results to

the users , the users interests and
preferences are personalized according to
their profiles.

Existing System
Existing system requires users to manually enter

the location preferences.

Manually server retrieves a set of locations.
User profile being exposed.

Studied Model
PMSE profiles both of the users content

and location preferences.

The user preferences are organized in an

ontology based.
Users locations positioned by GPS are

used.

Studied Model

Methods
Reranking the search results at PMSE server.
We use content weight vector and a location

weight vector for the reranking process.

Ontology update and click through data
collection at PMSE client.
Two privacy parameters namely minDistance
and expRatio.
