Definitions of Curriculum Evaluation

Curriculum evaluation is defined by several scholars as: 1) An attempt to determine if planned learning opportunities actually produce desired results and how the curriculum can be improved (McNeil, 1977). 2) A process of gathering data to decide whether to accept, change, or eliminate a curriculum or educational materials (Ornstein & Hunkins, 1998). 3) The formal determination of the quality, effectiveness, or value of an educational program, product, or curriculum (Worthen & Sanders, 1987).
