Welcome Parents,

Your child will be working with me, Mrs. Prunzion this year in
music class. I am so excited to work with each and every child at
Wexler-Grant Community School. With the support of Parents, and
Students I hope to make Wexler-Grant a very musical community.
The most important part of any music class is Participation. My
grades are not based on ability, they are based on effort and the
rubrics for projects reflect that. If your child is not the worlds greatest
singer, dont worry, if they truly do their best, they will do well. Your
children are not just learning about music, they are creating music. In
my class your children will compose, perform, and understand music.
They will also experience music from other cultures and time periods to
learn where the music they know and love began.
Grading:

50% Participation
Class Work/
20% Worksheets
10% Playing Tests
20% Concerts
The Concert component of the grade is based on students
participation in our concerts. Music class should be about making
music, and because we are creating a product we need to be able to
share it. Our concert date will be shared with you as soon as possible.
Your child will be expected to attend their events and do their best in
these performances, or their grade will be negatively affected. I expect
your full support in this initiative. If there is an extreme issue with the
date of your childs concert please let me know at least two weeks in
advance and I will create a make-up assignment or performance for
them.
Attached are the behavioral expectations and a sample letter home.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. I
can be reached at (203) 503-5600. My city e-mail address is
[email protected] E-mail is the best way to reach
me during the school day.
I look forward to meeting all of you and to working with your children.
Thank you,

Cheryl L. Prunzion
To be returned no later than Wednesday, January 28th, 2015. This
